2008 SHELTON YACHT CLUB CRUISE & ACTIVITY SCHEDULE

 “Treasures of the South Sound”

 

Jan. 25, 26, 27 *   Ocean Shores Land Cruise at the Polynesian Resort.  Friday night dinner at the Shiloh; Saturday shopping and Commodore’s Bash at BJs; Sunday breakfast buffet at Mariah’s.                                Hosts:  Donna & Terry Mehl

Feb. 15, 16, 17 *   Polar Bear Cruise at Swantown.  Continental breakfast provided by SYC on Saturday; Saturday evening progressive dinner on our boats.

Mar. 14, 15, 16 *   St. Patrick’s Day Cruise at Longbranch.  Friday evening hors d’oeuvres; Saturday wearing o’ the green, plus a wee bit o’ fun.    Hosts:  Nancy Fullerton & Chris Leeper

Mar. 29                  General Clean Up at SYC.  Annual work party to get ready for the Oyster & Ham Dinner.

Apr. 5                     Annual Oyster & Ham Dinner at Shelton Yacht Club.  All members are encouraged to participate in serving and clean-up.  Wear whites.

Apr. 18, 19, 20*    Daffodil Parade at Tacoma Yacht Club. TYC hosts this fun-filled weekend.  Theme: 75 years remembering your first daffodil parade.

Apr. 24                   Opening Day of Boating Season.  After the board meeting will be the blessing of the fleet; cake and ice  cream.

Apr. 25, 26, 27 *    Opening Weekend of Boating at Fair Harbor.  Friday night hors d’oeuvres; Saturday potluck.           Hosts: Ramona & D.C. Johnson

May 2, 3, 4            Seattle Yacht Club Opening Day.  Meet at the Locks; go as a group through the locks, and raft together on the log boom.  Formal ceremony at the Seattle YC clubhouse.  Enjoy the parade.

May 9, 10, 11       Wooden Boat Fair in Olympia.  Woodies to Percival Landing; fiberglass boats to Swantown.  Enjoy the chowder fest, vendor booths, activities, and the Farmer’s Market.

Jun. 6, 7, 8 *         First Mates Cruise at Arabella’s in Gig HarborHonor our First Mate this weekend, including a no-host Saturday evening dinner.

 

Jul. 18, 19, 20 *    Poulsbo Cruise.  Celebrate your personal heritage.  Lots of shopping, games, surprises, and fun.     Hosts:  Nadine, Natalie & Celeste Wrye

Aug. 15, 16, 17 *   Roundup in  Des Moines.  Cowboys & cowgirls: we will have a Western cookout with plenty of goods to eat, cowboy games, plus a hootenanny.   Hosts:  Joan Ervin & Sue Patterson

Sep. 12, 13, 14 *  Ragbaggers Cruise to Jarrell’s Cove.  Ride on a sailboat, eat s’mores, play horseshoes, enjoy a campfire. Hosts:  Lorraine Sullivan & Bill Miller

Oct. 3, 4, 5            Oysterfest at SYC.  We host visiting yacht clubs with games and potluck Saturday afternoon/evening.  Breakfast is served Sunday morning.

Oct. 17, 18, 19 *   Oktoberfest at Longbranch.  Enjoy German festivities,  including brats, beer, & pumpkins.            Hosts:  Diana & Kim Austin; Sheryl & Per Nilsen

Nov. 1                    Commodore’s Ball – “Halloween Costume Ball” – An evening of fun with your friends, including dinner, entertainment, and dancing. 

Nov. 13                  New and Prospective Members Dinner.  A special meal for the new and prospective members provided by the SYC officers.  Current and next year’s flag officers host the evening.

Dec. 13                 Special People’s Party in the afternoon.

Dec. 12, 13           Lighted Boat Parade.  Decorate your boat and parade down Hammersley Inlet.  After the parade, bring your guests and leftovers up to the clubhouse for a social get together.

Dec. 31                 New Year’s Eve Party; begins at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner, drinks, games, and fun.  Help take down the SYC tree.

Bold type designates organized events by the Fleet Captains; * designates overnight cruises.  You may also attend the overnight cruises by land if you wish.  However, these will not count as overnight cruises towards membership.

Be sure to watch the Lifeline and/or website for any changes in schedules.  If you are interested in helping out with any event, contact your fleet captains.  The more help, the more fun.
