LIFELINE

 SHELTON YACHT CLUB

FEBRUARY, 2010

COMMODORE:

If you were at the last social you already know, but for those of you who weren’t there,
I have slightly revised the rules for the NAME TAG DRAWING. From now on you will
need to have a Yacht Club issued name tag or equivalent. No more masking tape, sticky
labels, and the like. Prospective members can wear the name tag they received in the
prospective member package. So if you want to have a chance at some great prizes, remember
to wear your proper name tag.

Bill Mallows Award: During the March social the club will be voting on a member to
receive the Bill Mallows Award. Please start thinking along these lines and nominate someone
you feel is deserving. The service to the club may include work parties, serving time on the
board or bridge, putting in many hours on a specific project or a combination of good deeds to
benefit the club and its members. Last year we honored PC Frank Parks for his outstanding
service to the club. Please let me hear from you, phone, letter or email.

Remember: INTREPID BOATER CRUISE, Longbranch Feb 19 – 21.

Hope to see you all there.

Board meeting Feb 25th and the next social March 4th.

Thank you everyone; see you around the docks.

FLEET CAPTAIN:

Well, we achieved our goal for Port Townsend – everyone (39 of us) had a great time!
So, back to the future.

I would like to invite all new and prospective members to our New Member’s Cruise,
March 12–14 at Swantown Marina. We will be having our annual Progressive Dinner, so
everyone planning to attend please sign up at the March Social AND indicate which course
you will bring — Appetizer/Salad OR Entrée OR Dessert. We need to know who is bringing
what so that we can “schedule” the dinner rotation.

Also, we WILL be christening boats, so please let Ken or I know if you will be in
attendance about 4:00 on Saturday and are planning to have your boat christened or re-named.
We’ll have fun, fun, fun till our daddy takes the champagne away! My thanks to Chris and
Dan Leeper and the Teitzels for helping out on this journey.

Tony and Carol King are planning our Opening Day outing. They are keeping the
details under their hats for now, but it WILL be the weekend of April 23–25 at Percival
Landing in Olympia. Yes, there is no power, but please — are we intrepid boaters or not?
Besides, Tony has guaranteed me that he has arranged with the jazz master in the sky for great
weather! The theme for opening day is “Fantasy Island”, so what’s YOUR fantasy? Would
love to see all boats decorated! There will be a MAJOR prize for best decorated boat. (My
fantasy would be Hallelujah! It’s Raining Men!)

That’s it for this warm, wet February

Have some fun out there! suep

SYC FAMILY:

Monday, January 11th, Ramona Johnson had her 2nd knee surgery. A get-well card,
hoping she recovers very soon, was signed by many SYC members who attended the Port
Townsend Land cruise.

A sympathy card was sent to Larry Swift apologizing on behalf of the Shelton Yacht
Club and myself for the over-sight of not sending a card sooner. Betty was one of our
“special” SYC friends and we will miss her!

A 40th Anniversary card, that was lost and then found, was sent to Jim and Debbie
Harden and signed by those who attended the Port Townsend land cruise.

A line up, of all the women who were at the Port Townsend cruise, stood in line for
hours and hours to get the chance to give our famous Roy Taylor a kiss for his birthday!
